AIRPOCALYPSE

A mobile life-size poster
offers a realistic experience of air pollution
Year: 2018
Location: China
Smog has been a major problem affecting people’s daily life in China, especially in the wintertime while there are more rainy and cloudy days that make the air looks unclear most of the time.
The sense of feeling of invisibility from smog sometimes makes me feel that I won’t be able to breathe or see clearly, and it also makes me think of the feeling while I am inside a plastic bag. Therefore, I had this idea of giving people realistic or even exaggerated feelings or the atmosphere of severe air pollution.
Through researching and analysing the degree of haze alert, I wanted to help people identify the levels of the visibility of haze and I also made a typographic poster that was printed on handmade plastic bags which allow people to see those pieces of information while experiencing the smog inside of a plastic bags and having a deeper understanding of smog.
